RSA sits in 2nd-place at the 2009 NCS LCM Senior Champs with 356 points after 2 days of competition. We are 46 points clear of 3rd.
RSA started off the evening with a 2-3-12 finish in the 200free from Henriette Stenkvist, Hannah Caron and Sarah Henry. Henriette’s 2:03.69 was her fastest 200 free on American soil and Sarah’s swim was once again remarkable due to her in-water start and inability to push off with two legs or kick with two legs. Tessa Pena had another LTB in the C final after being scratched in with little warning. Dylan Kab and Andrew Henry finished 12-14 in the men’s 200free.
Next up was the 100 breaststroke and Torrey Bussey nearly won in from lane 8, finishing second. Tessa Pena swam yet another LTB in the C final, earning her 6th LTB of the weekend so far! Ryan Cox uncorked another LTB in the 100 breaststroke final but infortunately due to some administrative issues he is unattached and cannot score points for RSA – 1:06.67 is a swim we would like to have score. Andrew Henry and Jose Chavez finished 14-15 in the event, both improving from the morning swim and Andrew earning another LTB.
Hannah Caron took the 100f fly with a swift meet record 1:01.92 and Jessie Godlewski finished 5th with another LTB of 1:04.37. Kristyn Repke bettered her morning LTB with another best time of 1:07 in the C final.
The final individual event of the evening was the 400IM, and RSA’s women won both the consolation final and the A final, with Jessie Godlewski dropping 5 seconds to go 5:07 and win the B final and Henriette Stenkvist going another LTB of 5:00 to win the event. Jose Chavez went a LTB 4:53 in the C final, while Mitch Deforest dropped 10 seconds off his time coming into the meet to finish 11th with a 4:48. Andrew Henry finished 7th in the event.
The RSA women lost a close race to MAC (and a 56.46 anchor), finishing 2nd in the 400 free relay with a 3:57.80. Henriette Stenkvist led off with a LTB 58.34, Kristyn Repke, Hannah Caron and Jessie Godlewski finished off the 2nd-place relay. The RSA women also took 11th with the team of Torrey Bussey, Claire Nobles, Marisa Martinez and Lindsey Giglio. The RSA quartet of Michael Williams, Andy Lamb, Dylan Kab and Andrew Henry finished 4th in the men’s 400 free relay with Michael leading off with a LTB in the 100 of 53.48. Andy was welcomed back from his recent appendectomy and split a 53.2 to help the relay. The relay of Tucker Dupree, Jose Chavez, Mitch Deforest and Matthew Newland finished 12th.
